Kaveed and Yani
Kaveed and Yani
Two Hungry Children
Khaveed (Male), Yani (Female)
In the original film, they are much smaller with Kaveed having prominent bangs and blue shirt with grey overall like clothing while Yani wore a purple hujab revealing most of her face and a purple dress.
In the series, Kaveed wears a gray outfit while his older sister Yani wears a pink dress. They have paler faces, have different face structures and look noticeably older (but still very similar in appearance to each other).
The two are both brave and caring. They are grateful for Aladdin sharing his food with them. Yani is particularly protective of her younger brother, shielding him when Prince Achmed was about to whip them. She also seems to have a crush on Aladdin, often swooning over him. Kaveed is adventurous and is a quick thinker, with Iago pointing out he sounds like Aladdin making a plan.
The two briefly appeared in the film looking for food before accidentally coming across Aladdin who, realizing they were even worse off than him, gave them his bread and urged Abu to do the same. Initially, Abu refused and even took a bite of his bread. However, upon seeing them, he decides to give them his partially eaten bread and they politely thank them, flattering him. Kaveed later accidentally comes across Prince Achmed who proceeeds to whip him for getting in front of his horse. Yani who tried to stop him from going into the middle of street, then tries to shield him but Aladdin protects them at the last second, and they leave.
They then appear in their own episode "Caught by the Tale" where Iago and Genie frequently tell them stories about Aladdin. Genie's stories bore them because he tries to make them too safe so Iago tells more heroic stories but changes the so he is the hero instead of Aladdin. Abis Mal and Haroud catch wind of this and decide to use these stories to convince the children to go on an adventure for them in an underground temple beneath the marketplace so they can retrieve the Helmet of Babaganoosh, a golden helmet ordained with a scorpion that turns people to stone. Once they retrieved it, Abis Mal leaves them stranded there. Iago and Abu go down to help them but Kaveed hits Iago thinking he was a bat. Iago admits his stories were fake and Aladdin is the real hero not him, and Kaveed comes up with a plan to trap them behind a gate before they can get out and use the pillars to climb out. They find Genie who transforms Abu into a camel to rush to the place. Abis Mal freezes everyone including Genie but Aladdin comes in and manages to save them. Genie celebrates by wishing up a giant banana sundae. Kaveed and Yani talk about all the heroic stories they hears about Aladdin before Aladdin points out that they are heroes too.
